Betsie Valley Trail

Betsie Valley Trail

A scenic 22 miles of trail, extending from Frankfort, through Elberta and Beulah to Thompsonville. The entire trail is excellent for bicycles and pedestrians. Part of the trail from Beulah to Thompsonville is open to snowmobiles from December through March.

Arcadia Dunes

Over 3600 acres of sandy beaches, dunes, forests, and grassland, and 15 miles of hiking and biking trails.

Manistee River Hiking Trails

Enjoy this 11+ mile trail system along the high banks of the Big Manistee River between Tippy Dam and Hodenpyle Dam. There are numerous rustic campsites located throughout the area and many beautiful scenic overlooks. Make a weekend of camping and hiking by taking the Manistee River Tail/North Country Trail loop.

Big M Hiking & Biking

Enjoy 40+ miles of mountain biking trails carved out of the Manistee National Forest. This trail system also connects with the North County Trail system. This is frequently the site of Mountain biking races and is a Cross County skiers paradise once the snow begins to fall.

Lake Bluff Hiking Trails and Bird Sanctuary

76 acre wildlife sanctuary with 178 bird species recorded. Birdwatching, 5 acre arboretum, 2 Michigan Champion trees, 1/3 mile of beach, bookstore and gift shop. Picnic on terrace or lawn, swim the beach, hike a trail, watch the beautiful sunset or attend a guided nature hike.

Big M X Country Skiing

Located just outside of Wellston, off M-55, the Big M Ski Trail offers 46 miles of trails over a variety of terrain. A challenge for skiers and snowshoers alike, the trail gives breathtaking views of the Manistee National Forest.
